The Keys of Confidence

So my most requested post was one about self-confidence and while i’m sure you’ve heard all the usual stuff about how its supposed to work, when it comes to applying what we’ve learned its almost as if we’ve learned nothing at all. I mean, you’d think all these professionals and therapists who take time to write books would take into account actually being human …

While I myself appear to still be a mere mortal, I have been through quite a bit in terms of low self esteem & major anxiety. For a few years I had tried time and time again to motivate and encourage myself to stop being a depressed slob-kabob and reach for my actual potential. Honestly, it took me some time to even get the confidence to have confidence, which is something on its own. I do however have the best confidence tips that have stuck with me and actually made a difference in the way I carry myself. Keep in mind, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Photoshop – Crop and edit the way you see yourself, take away the negative thoughts and embrace all the good things instead. Do you have talents? Passions? Understand your personal value ( which is VERY high ). Instead of seeing yourself as your mistakes, see yourself as everything you can and want to be. Visualize yourself as the person you would like to become.

Get to know yourself – Analyze the way you feel and the way you behave, understand why you feel that way how that chain reacts your thinking. What really makes you happy? What are you most passionate about? Would you like to further your education? Advance in your career ? Perhaps you’d like to dive into something you’ve always been too scared or intimidated to do, I say go for it!

Prepare yourself – First of all let me just say, before you can adjust anything else in your life you have to take care of yourself. I know I personally always feel my strongest and best when I look put together and i’m well organized.

  • Get into a skin care routine
  • Drink water! ( trust me this is absolutely true )
  • Take a vitamin
  • Exercise to clear your mind and get your blood flowing
  • Get some sleep
  • Wake up early to maximize your day’s potential
  • practice telling yourself you WILL have a good day and that you WILL accomplish everything you’ve set up for yourself.

Get Organized – Clear your space, clean out the closet, rearrange your room or even go extreme home makeover and recreate your personal space. A little clutter removal and reorganizing goes a long way in making you feel more confident because it gives you a calmer, lighter feeling. Plus you’ll be able to move and get things done in the time you’d like.

  • Lay out your clothes the night before
  • Don’t let things pile up ( dishes, clothes, work or promises )
  • Don’t take too much onto your plate – give yourself space
  • Make those lists
  • Slowly add things to your day
  • Be productive before playing

Change one thing at a time – Start with small habits you’d like to break and gradually your other goals will unfold like a domino effect, your health and productivity all go into each other. I myself am working hard on this ‘ Self- Discipline’ thing, seemingly its not too bad but for a procrastinator like me its my arch nemesis.

  • Cut out sugar & processed foods
  • Eat a more plant based diet
  • Express your energy and emotions
  • Create
  •  Set small reachable goals and keep track of them.
  • Try being social – even if it’s just family

Stand Tall – The way you walk speaks volumes about how people perceive you before they ever meet you. Walk tall, shoulders back and chest forward ( not like a fighter pilot, way more chill than that ) your feet should be just in front of your hips. Don’t just step, STRIDE. Make every opportunity to walk an opportunity to be on the runway, command silent attention and I guarantee you will feel the energy in the moment. The more you practice standing and sitting up straight the more it will come naturally to you. Even if you don’t feel confident, yup i’m gonna say it, fake it till you make it. The more you act like you are who you are the more you become that person. You have to believe in yourself more than you doubt.

Being confident doesn’t happen over night, or even after just a day, however, it is built in the little moments that we do conquer. Don’t worry about being like anyone else or how fast other seem to be moving or progressing, focus only on yourself. Dig your roots deep, water yourself with positive affirmations  and change and always search for the sunniest side to reach for the sky.

What’s the difference between accomplishment and establishment?

Accomplishment is defined as something that has been achieved successfully. – A deed, a performance, an effort.

Establishment is defined as the act of establishing something or being established. – A foundation, a creation, an installment.

Throughout your life I’m sure you’ve been asked ” What would you like to accomplish? or what have you accomplished?”

What if I asked you, what have you established? What would you like to establish?

We all feel proud and happy when we feel that we’ve accomplished something, weather it be school, work, a new recipe or even finally finishing that book. Throughout our days we cling to the need of accomplishment, we set goals and tell ourselves that if we do all the tasks on our list that we’ve had a fulfilling day. Now think about how you do this everyday, you juggle and stress and fight for that sense of doing it all. Yet, at the end of the day, when the noise has finally died down and you can sit just by yourself to find some peace .. there is none.

If After a long day of battles you sit down to have peace with yourself and all you can do is contemplate, stress or just flat out feel like you have no idea where you’re going then you need to stop focusing on just what you can accomplish but rather what you want to establish instead.

When I say Establish, I mean yourself. Establish a real foundation for yourself to grow, what kind of life do you want to live? What kind of person do you want to be? Maybe you’d like to be healthier or maybe you’d like to start your own business. Perhaps you want to be more bold, assertive or successful. The root of your dreams, of yourself and of your life, is your foundation. How well is it laid? How strong is it? How much can you build on it ? Within that I mean how healthy are you? Can you keep up with your own life or do you feel like you’re barely staying a float? Do you use time wisely? Do you make time for yourself and prioritize whats REALLY important? (( like it will matter in a month type of important, don’t let emotions control you or your idea of the future )

Before you can rule the world you have to be in control of your own kingdom, your own monarchy.

Take time to de-stress and step away. De-clutter your mind and dig into your roots to really get to know yourself.

Do some Research about the things you aspire to do or people you consider role models.

Attitude is absolutely everything, keeping your cool and staying positive ( as hard as that is sometimes ) will make life less tragic. By having a good attitude you open yourself up to better experiences and give yourself confidence to get through the next obstacle.

Take pictures – literally go for a walk and take pictures of everything you think is beautiful or cool. Review the photos later and let them inspire you and marvel at life’s moments that you just so happened to capture.

You will always be running in the same circles and have the same restraints if you never establish a strong sense of yourself.

Establish you.

This is all new to me and I feel very strongly about all the ideas and words that I put out for you all to read. I myself am just beginning again and learning how to put myself back together after being broken and thinking that I would be broken forever. Go on this journey with me! Lets grow and learn and inspire each other ❤

Stay tuned for my posts about what to do next and rebuilding your confidence.

Beginning again

What does it mean to begin?

The dictionary defines beginning as starting; performing or undergoing the first part.

Beginning something is always great, you might be excited or nervous, afraid or curious, but of all things we begin we always get something out of the experience.  No matter if it was good or bad we get something out of it. I guess that’s why as we get older we become increasingly more selective with what we’re willing to begin, because life has given us such a lottery of ups and downs that we become skeptical and timid.

The first part of the rest of your life is something worth beginning, being that everyday is a new chance to be the best day of your life and tomorrow is never guaranteed. Why sit around wishing and wishing that you could change, that your life could be better or that you could be someone else?

First of all, to be honest, peoples lives suck. Doesn’t matter how cool or collected a person may seem. Remember that people only project and post what they want you to see or know about them. Everyone is in constant battle with themselves and fitting into this dimensionless society that we’re all being thrust into. Secondly, as cliche as it sounds you really can wake up in the morning and not feel anxious or sick or directionless. You really can take hold of this day and this moment and decide to let all the pieces of your former self shed away. To pursue your ultimate, happiest self and be at peace in your life and throughout your day. Take the opportunity to change.

Make some tea

Read a book

Make lists – lots of them

Take pictures

Go for a walk

Capture the life happening around you and take the time to appreciate it. Feel the breeze and listen the world move while you stay perfectly still. Let yourself feel, let yourself breathe … take a moment to stop before you begin. Focus yourself into what you want, the limit does not exist. Imagine yourself after a week of living healthy, of taking your vitamins, getting your water and sleep, kicking out the No and separating yourself from your past. Be your own role model. Do it for you.

Everyday you can begin again.
